RACHEL CHEN JIA MIN

Taiwanese born in Singapore,

lived most of her childhood in Myanmar.

 

Rachel Chen received her Master's Degree from SCI-ARC (Southern

California Institute of Architecture), MArch II program in 2018 and received her Bachelors of Science in Architecture Degree from University At Buffalo, New York in 2016. She received her High School IB Diploma from International School Yangon, Myanmar in 2012.

 

Rachel is a designer at Rottet Studio, Los Angeles and interned at JWDA, Los Angeles and Junya Ishigami + Associates, Japan and worked as Laser Tech, at Sci-Arc. She has also won Third Prize for her Senior Year Studio Competition from University of Buffalo in 2016 and have also received a 2016 Studio Prize award from Architect Magazine for the project "Good Grids". The project is based on the American City Grid Systems where she toured New York, Boston, Washinton, D.C; and 34 other cities in 19 states within five weeks around the Eastern US.

"Rachel's works are of reinvention, experimentation, and conceptual metaphors. Rachel is not tied to any particular ideological or formal predilections. She experiment, explore, and expand the boundaries of conventional architectural practice to respond to contemporary architectural issues using the latest technologies and new ways of communication to create functional and beautiful design solutions for spaces where people can fully appreciate their surroundings and feel good."
